Home Screen widget

Put the cocktail of the day on your Home Screen, open its recipe with a tap, and keep the widget up to date.

Sakaba’s widget puts the cocktail of the day on your Home Screen. It changes by itself at midnight, and a tap opens the recipe.

Add the widget

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit at the top, then Add Widget.
  3. Search for Sakaba and pick a size, small or medium.
  4. Tap Add Widget, then place it where you like.

The widget is called “Sakaba” and comes in those two sizes only.

What it shows

  • Small: the day’s cocktail as a full photo, with its name at the bottom.
  • Medium: a photo on the left, and on the right Cocktail of the day, the cocktail’s name and a few lines of its description.

Tap anywhere on the widget to open Sakaba straight to that recipe.

The cocktail of the day

It’s the same drink you see at the top of Home and in the Friday weekend reminder. It’s also the same for every Sakaba user on a given date, wherever they are, and it changes at midnight your local time.

It’s always one of the free recipes, so it opens for everyone, with or without Sakaba Plus. Your own recipes are never picked.

Keep it up to date

The first time you open Sakaba each day, it gives the widget the next 7 days of cocktails, counting today. The widget then moves to the next drink every midnight without the app running.

If you don’t open Sakaba for about a week, the widget runs out of days and shows Open Sakaba to set up your bar. Open the app once and it fills up again. Tapping the widget in that state opens Sakaba’s Home tab.

Language

The cocktail’s description and the Cocktail of the day label use the language you chose in Sakaba, and they update when you switch. The cocktail’s name keeps its original spelling. The widget’s description in the widget gallery follows your device’s language. See Languages.

Tinted and clear Home Screens

If your Home Screen uses tinted or clear icons and widgets, the widget leaves out the photo and shows the text only, so the name stays readable.

Good to know

  • iPhone and iPad. The widget works on both.
  • Nothing to set up. The widget doesn’t depend on your bar, your favorites or Sakaba Plus.
