Switch between ml and oz
Show every amount in milliliters or ounces, and see how Sakaba converts between them.
Sakaba shows recipe amounts in milliliters or ounces, whichever you prefer. You can switch at any time, and no recipe changes when you do; only the way amounts are shown.
Change the unit
- On Home, tap the gear button to open
Settings. - Under
Preferences, findMeasurementand tap the unit next to it. - Choose
mloroz.
Every amount in the app switches right away.
How Sakaba converts
- 1 oz = 30 ml. It’s the round number bartenders use, and the one Sakaba uses everywhere.
- Ounces come in quarters, the way a jigger measures them: ¼, ½, ¾, 1, 1½ and so on. A Daiquiri’s 60 ml of rum shows as 2 oz, and its 25 ml of lime juice as ¾ oz.
- Tiny pours never show as 0 oz. Anything smaller than a quarter ounce shows as ¼ oz. An Old Fashioned’s 10 ml of simple syrup reads ¼ oz.
- Milliliters show as whole numbers, or with one decimal when needed.
What never converts
Only liquid volumes switch between ml and oz. Everything else stays as the recipe wrote it, in both settings:
- Dashes and drops, such as the 2 dashes of Angostura bitters in an Old Fashioned.
- Teaspoons, tablespoons and barspoons.
- Things you count: leaves, slices, wheels, wedges, twists, sprigs, pinches and cubes.
- Ingredients used whole, like an egg white, which show just the number.
Where your unit applies
Your choice applies wherever an amount appears: the recipe page, the touch-and-hold preview in lists, guided mixing, the share card, your journal entries and the recipe editor.
When you adjust an amount on a recipe, the ruler works in your unit too: steps of 5 ml, or ¼ oz, per serving. See Servings and scaling.
Your first-launch default
The first time you open Sakaba, it picks ounces if your device’s region uses US measurements and milliliters everywhere else. The setup screen How do you measure? shows that choice, and you can change it there with Milliliters or Ounces. See First launch and setup.
Good to know
- Rounding can make two amounts look alike. In ounces, 20 ml and 25 ml both show as ¾ oz. Switch to ml when you need the exact figure.
- Only ml and oz. There’s no centiliter or “parts” option.
- Per device. The setting is saved on each device and doesn’t sync through iCloud.
