Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for locked recipes, missing bottles, counts that don’t match, sync, the widget, reminders, language and photos.

Most problems in Sakaba have a quick fix. Find yours below; if it isn’t here, contact support.

A recipe won’t open

If tapping a recipe shows Recipe is part of Sakaba Plus instead, it’s one of the recipes that need Sakaba Plus. In lists, these carry a ✨ next to the name. 80 recipes are free; see Free vs Sakaba Plus.

If you have Plus and recipes are still locked, see the next section.

Sakaba Plus isn’t showing

  • New device or reinstall. Open Settings → Sakaba Plus and tap Restore. See Restore purchases.
  • Waiting for approval. With Ask to Buy, Plus unlocks once the purchase is approved.
  • Plus just ended. If a subscription was cancelled or refunded, Plus turns off. Check under Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad.

The ready count shows two numbers

Without Plus, the count of what your bar can make, on Home and in My Bar, shows two numbers: how many cocktails your bottles can make, and how many of those you can open. The rest are Plus recipes. Siri and weekend reminders only mention the ones you can open. See What can I make?

A drink shows as ready, but I’m missing a bottle

Check which section it’s in. Under Ready with a swap, Sakaba uses a substitute you do have. See Substitutions.

I can’t find a bottle in My Bar

Sakaba lists the ingredients its recipes use, so a bottle no recipe calls for isn’t there. Try the search field on the Ingredients tab, or a more general name. Water and ice are assumed, so they’re never listed. See Set up My Bar.

There’s no Start mixing button

Start mixing only appears on recipes with steps. If you wrote your own recipe without steps, add some in the editor. See Create your own recipe.

My data isn’t on my other device

Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account, that iCloud is on for Sakaba, and that both are online. Then open Sakaba on each and give it time; there’s no sync button. Settings and recipe-page adjustments never sync. See iCloud sync.

The widget is empty or out of date

If the widget says “Open Sakaba to set up your bar.”, open the app once. The widget gets its cocktails from the app, and they run out if Sakaba hasn’t been opened for about a week. See Home Screen widget.

Weekend reminders don’t arrive

  • Check that Settings → Notifications is on in Sakaba.
  • If turning it on shows Allow notifications in iOS Settings first, notifications for Sakaba are off in the iOS Settings app. Turn them on there, then come back.
  • The Saturday reminder is only sent when your bar can make at least one cocktail you can open.

See Weekend reminders.

“Couldn’t open your library”

This alert means Sakaba couldn’t open the data stored on this device, so some of it may be missing. Close Sakaba completely and open it again. If it keeps happening, reinstalling the app can fix it, and what’s in iCloud is safe.

Before you reinstall, check that iCloud is on for Sakaba. Anything that was only on this device is removed with the app. With Sakaba Plus, try Export & backup first. See Back up and restore your data.

Sakaba is in the wrong language

Change it in Settings → Language. Until you pick a language there, Sakaba follows your device. See Languages.

“Couldn’t load that photo”

Sakaba couldn’t read the photo you picked. This can happen with a photo stored in iCloud Photos that isn’t on your device yet. Check your connection and try again, or pick a different photo. See Photos.
